Sod

So I came home from camp to 10,000 square feet of sod that had just been delivered that morning! The curbing had gone in while I was gone as well! Andrew got most of the grading done just before everyone showed up to help with the sod! It was not an easy or small job to grade our yard! They started working and were getting in done! The front got done and our back parking strip and they started on the back. Well the weather all of the sudden took a turn for the worse. Wind and lightning and rain like nothing we have ever seen since living here! It rained over an inch in 30 minutes! We couldn't see anything out our windows! All our help ran home or to their cars or inside! It stopped finally and a lot of places in the dirt had to be regraded! We just had to wait until the next day! Andrew had to work all day but he came right home and we got some of our help back and some new help and they finally finished just as it was getting dark! We couldn't have done it without all our family and friends! After we put our kids down Andrew and I went and walked all around on it, not just to feel it beneath our feet but to also check and make sure there weren't any spots without anything! We had quite a bit of sod left and put an ad on KSL sunday afternoon and within an hour it was gone. Put an ad up for something free and people go crazy! Andrew had to go and monitor the situation so people were being fair at one point! It has been so nice to have the yard somewhat put in. Next year we will have to put bushes and trees and flowers in, we are maxed out for the year :)! My kids have loved playing outside and it is nice to send them in the back where they can run free!

This was about 10 minutes before the monsoon hit!
Seriously pallets of sod everywhere!

These are from a few weeks before! Easton loved to help Andrew!

My awesome uncle Donn put in our sprinklers for us! He does it just to stay busy and would come after work some days and work for a couple hours in the heat! He did such a wonderful job! Easton became his buddy! He loved helping Donn and kept him hydrated and entertained!

This was once the sprinklers were done and he was trying to get it graded and the weeds gone!
We have a little water retention area behind us across the street and it filled with water from the storm when we were putting in the grass, I had never seen it rain enough to fill it! People came out with kayaks after it was hilarious! Our grill was also to the left on the other side of the deck but the wind carried it over!
Addie was in heaven!

The masses of people who wanted a few pieces of free sod!

Andrew sent me this picture on my way home from camp, it was the first piece of sod they laid!

My mom still had my kids when I got home from camp so I got to work grading and I hauled like 20 wheelbarrows full of top soil! Lets just say it was almost midnight before I finally got a shower after camp!
All done!
