Tuesday we enjoyed seeing more sights in Nauvoo and trying to stay cool . The weeks leading up to our arrival there had been cool and rainy and then the week we got there the summer heat and humidity was turned on! We tried to stay in the shade as much as we could even though it didn't make to much of a difference.
We went to see some sights like the post office and tin shop and the young performing missionaries and Nauvoo brass band were out front playing and dancing! The kids had so much fun dancing with them!
We sat and watched and danced for almost an hour it was so fun!
We went in print shop after the dancing and Andrew and Brent got to help try the print press out! It is amazing what it took to print a newspaper back then. It took a lot of time and patience!
We went down to the family living center after and the kids got to learn how to make rope, how they baked bread, and had fun playing with the dolls!
Addie grew an attachment to this black baby, she loved it! She also got a spider bite about the size of an egg on the back of her leg while we were in there!
Easton was excited to learn how to make rope and he got to bring some home!
I can see the big spider bite on her right leg!
We went and got some burgers for lunch. There is hardly anywhere to eat in Nauvoo and last time we found a place we loved and it was gone this time. I was coming down with a migraine during lunch blurry vision and all and thankfully they had some coke and it helped a lot! We rested up that afternoon and then headed to the Country Fair before the pageant that night! We also had a small birthday party for my little sister Sarah that afternoon. It was her 18th birthday!
Easton and Ella attempted some pioneer games, this one was a hard one for East!
They learned the hyland fling, I remember sitting here last time we were in Nauvoo and watching my parents and siblings teach it :)
Addie was finally happy cause she found Sarah!
Sack races were a hit amongst Andrew and Brent! It was pretty funny to watch!
The pageant that night was the Nauvoo one and it was so amazing! We sat on the same row about 20 people down from Elder Holland and his whole family. They had done a devotional earlier for the cast. His whole family was on a church history tour on buses and had been to Palmyra and made there way to Nauvoo. They were supposed to be there the day before but got behind a day because Elder Holland had to fly home in the middle of their trip to attend Elder Packer's funeral. We finished the night off at Annie's, a yummy custard place!
