ER Trip

So after the BBQ we were going to go out to dessert to celebrate our anniversary, I think Andrew said he was going to take us to get a Crepe. Well Easton just didn't feel good but we thought he was ok. Well a storm started rolling in so we went to leave. Well as we were leaving Easton starts throwing up and his breathing got really bad. Well we decided, ok Andrew decided that we should probably take him to a doctor and since it was nearing 8 the ER would be the best option. I was still holding out for that promised Crepe so I was like well lets go get dessert and then go, yes putting my stomach before my child! I finally had some sense knocked into me and we headed for the ER. We got there and checked in and didn't even sit down and the nurse that was by admissions immediately took us back. He had been counting respiration's and doing some other stuff while we were checking in and he didn't like what he was hearing. The poor kid didn't sound good and his blood oxygen level was way out of whack! They took us back to triage and got some of his vitals and then took us to our room. They immediately had about five people in our room, I still don't know why five people ask the same 20 questions at doctors offices, can't one person do it and then tell the others. It is really annoying to give your story 5 different times! They gave him some Tylenol because he had a fever of 103.3. They came back about 20 min later and took his temp again and it was the same (another annoying thing is they kept taking it rectally, in this day in time I don't think that is necessary I don't know why a hospital doesn't have a better thermometer!). They gave him some ibuprofen and it immediately started to drop. We had some x-rays done to see if everything was ok. They took 3 viles of blood, and ran some other tests. They had to bag him to get a sample of urine. At one point I had major deja vu when they came in and said you can go as soon as he goes wet. The famous last words when he was born and they wouldn't discharge us until he went wet. In the meantime they gave him a breathing treatment. It worked really well and after about 2 hours he was up and running in circles! He just had the croup cough but the x-rays were good because it showed that he has a really small opening and so this probably won't be our last time with croup. Finally after 4 hours they let us go home! We walked outside and it was pouring a freezing, while in the hospital the temp went from 80 degreees to 47 degrees! Lucky for Ella she was the only one with a jacket and only because I had just bought it the day before and it was in the car! We were all so exhausted by then and it was nice the kids slept in until 10 the next morning!

He was so out of it!

I love the little cuff they put on him it was so tiny!

Our awesome nurses. They were so nice and one even took Ella on a walk for us and took her to a special room and they came back with juice and Popsicles for us all!
The kids loved the blue throw up bags in the rooms, Easton just kept taking off his hospital bracelets and putting them in the bag.

I loved what the nurse did with the Popsicles for the kids. She cut a cup down and poked a hole in the bottom so it would catch the drips, I will now always do that!

We were thankful for our phones while we were sitting there. They had two stations on the TV and we were in a small maybe 10x10 room so we were all going crazy so Netflix on our phones saved the day!
He is doing a lot better and finished his medicine yesterday. He still has a lingering cough but nothing he can't handle after that awesome experience! I'm still holding out for my crepe ;)

Flowers

So after we got home from the hospital we finally were able to exchange cards. We didn't do gifts this year although we did buy ourselves a new vacuum the week before so I guess that counts. It is the first vacuum we have owned that cost more than $30! It works so well, I am grateful to have it! Anyways so this was at 1 AM and Andrew wants to take my picture lovely! The flowers have been so nice to have and they have looked great until today I guess time to get rid of them but they were nice to have! He is glad they lasted because they sat in his truck longer than anticipated! Happy 7 years to us!

SCO Homecoming/ 7th Anniversary

Last Friday was our 7th Anniversary. It was also Andrew's schools homecoming. It is our last year and we really wanted to go. This is one of our favorite events of the year! They cater bbq in from one of the local places and have blow up toys, a balloon artist, dinner, free beer (a big thing for 90% of the students), a rock wall, and miniature golf. We figured it would be a fun way to celebrate! We had planned on going and getting dessert after! We got their right on time and got a table. This is our fourth homecoming here and they finally seem to be getting it right, they had twice as many tables set up as other years and four lines of food instead of two. Waiting for food was no longer an issue and everyone got a table! We enjoyed our food and noticed the balloon guy setting up and not wanting to wait forever again like last year we told Ella if she finished eating we could get a balloon. She quickly finished eating and we went over and only had to wait for one person in front of us! Poor Easton on our way started not feeling very hot. He was coughing a little so we left him in the stroller.

Eating dinner! Easton didn't eat anything which is unusual but he wasn't himself. Ella loved her hot dog! We love the bbq here so the food was good, it isn't our favorite place to get it but it is still good! We enjoyed pulled pork sandwiches topped with coleslaw (a Memphis thing, I tried it for the first time a couple months ago I was skeptical but it is amazing!), baked beans, mac and cheese, cookies, and brownies! It was nice to have a night off from cooking dinner!

Poor kid he was not well!

Getting our balloon! Ella decided on a ballerina with a pink tutu and this guy is so cute he put red hair on it and blue eyes! This guy is really good at what he does, he told us he has been doing it for over 40 years!

He made East a tree with bananas and a blue monkey in it. He could have cared less, he liked it better the next day when he felt better.

Poor East we were torturing him taking pictures!

We played a little miniature golf until the people behind us cut in front of us so we called it quits after about 9 holes. I got a couple holes in one!

We had to have a rematch of this from last year, sadly what worked for me last year in winning didn't this year but it was still pretty fun to do and I'm sure funny to watch!

Thanks to Lauren who followed me around all night at took all my pictures!

About 20 min after this it suddenly got dark out and they started picking up because it was starting to thunder and lightening. We decided to leave just as Easton started to throw up all over me and my new shirt! His breathing then became really bad and he could hardly get a breathe out so we headed to the ER and by the time we got there it was pouring! I will write more about the ER in my next post! It was a fun night I am sad Easton didn't enjoy it, he would have loved it!

Halloween Time

Last week for Thursday school I put Ella in her Halloween shirt and leggings. I found the shirt I had got last year after Halloween on clearance and the leg warmers I got for free from one of those facebook offers. They were so cute on her. I originally for school had her all orange bow in her hair. The best part of the day was when we walked in school and her teacher Mrs. Judy saw her was in shock. She couldn't believe how cute she looked. Then she pulled me aside and said "oh mama, don't you know your in Ole' Miss country now, you can't be putting this UT (University of Tenn.) stuff on her!" The best part was she was totally serious and then realized it was a Halloween thing not a UT thing. It was pretty funny! I had a good laugh as Easton and I walked back to the car! It is true people here love Ole' Miss just watch The Blindside Movie!

Playtime

The kids have loved having all their toys back. It is like they had a million new toys! They play really well together most of the time. They have their moments of stealing and fighting over things but they do pretty well! They usually only want something if the other has it and I usually just take the person trying to steal and show them something new and it usually works!

It is fun to watch Ella's imagination flourish. It is fun to listen to her play and the stories she is making up! Every little people she owns is either a prince or a princess. Basically anything is a prince or princess. This day she had them paired off and she told me the princes were dancing with their princess! I love it!
Here is a closer look at her pairings! I wish I could find a true red headed little person Ella would love it!
This is what Easton was doing while Ella was having her people dance, lining up the cars! He is into lining anything up, his food, toys, anything! He is getting to big to fast! He is definitely not a baby anymore!
He had started lining the cars up on the lid. It is so fun to hear his car noises he makes!

Crazy Kid

We have the kids sharing a room right now since we didn't unpack most of our stuff and so our stuff got the second bedroom hence the sharing a room. I was not a huge fan and after the first week was ready to figure out how to put them in separate rooms. He was waking up super early and we could hear him shout "Ella" really loud and waking her up, in turn she was super grumpy all day and nap time couldn't come soon enough. He has since started sleeping a little longer and some mornings he will play quietly in his bed or the living room and won't wake her up! He is such a sweet boy! For nap time though they can't sleep in the same room it is not possible they won't sleep so he sleeps on my bed. I think most days I have moved all tempting items out of his reach but most days I don't and he finds ways to get things I don't know how. He this day managed to find a comb and a car and fall asleep with them on top of him, he is so silly! His blanket was thrown on the floor because he wanted a comb instead I guess?!! I know he climbs down and finds things even though he claims he can't get down and needs my assistance if I am there!

Storytime

Last weeks story time they read stories about bats, I think?!? I don't remember really we were late and missed the first two or so books but we made it in time to do the craft! They made cute bats! The wings are both made from their hand prints. Easton loved doing this, maybe it was the glue stick I let him use! The story time lady then punched a hole in the top and tied a string through it. They are hanging in our kitchen. Easton points and mutters something to his every now and again and Ella for a few days called it an owl. I wish I could remember my little camera with me when I go places because these phone pictures aren't the best but they will do! Easton's face is so cute in these!

Road Rally

Last Saturday we had our Road Rally/Amazing Race! Last year one of the couples put it on and they decided to do it again. They put so much work into doing this and thought! They told us they even stayed up until 3 am one night putting it together. It was a lot of fun! We met up at Andrew's school at noon and had a potluck lunch. We then were divided into teams they had already put together. We were put on the light blue team with Lauren and Braden. Our first clue was a word scramble and I saw it almost immediately. That clue led us down to the men's restroom on the third floor, we stayed to hold the elevator so no one else could get it and so we could quickly go. We went and our clue led us down the street to a park and we had to decode this clue using the saying below.
That first clue took us the longest and eventually led us to Gus's Fried Chicken. We got our clue there and it was a CD which played an Elvis song leading us to the Heartbreak Hotel next to Graceland. Funny story, the security guard was so funny when she saw us she immediately knew we were part of the race and told us right where to go and then was waving at us very excitedly when we left! Well I guess they changed security guards in the middle of the race and some other people had trouble getting their clue because the new guy wouldn't let them in and told him there was not a race going on. That was as far as we had to drive. Everything else was downtown and within 3 miles of the school. That clue led us back to the Orpheum theater where our clue was rolled up tight and sitting inside a street sign. That clue led us to Tom Lee park along the Mississippi River where they had to fill in the blanks which then led us to Boulevard Baptist Church (when they have their Graduation next year). That clue then led us back to Auto Zone Park where we were told to text a number for our next clue. That next clue led us to another park in downtown (we had no idea there were so many parks downtown, some we had seen/been to, others I had no clue were there). Our clue was inside the barrel of a canon at that park and it told us to head back to the beginning, back to the school . We went as fast as we could and got up to the 8th floor to find we were the first ones! Now they had taken into account each persons routes and had added time to some of the teams depending on which route you got (they entered each route into google maps and took each time listed and then made it all fair somehow). Plus we had a two minute penalty for calling to verify a clue at one of the stops. We ended up with a 5 minute total penalty and WON!!! We honestly thought we were slow and weren't going to even "place" so we were pretty excited! It was so much fun! They had hired a couple of the young women to come and babysit every ones kids at the school. Our poor kids were terrified when we left because we went running and told them they had to stay, Ella was so upset! She was just fine when we got back! It was such a fun day!
Here is the trophy our team won which has been at last years winners house on their fridge all year! We were so sad that the Anderson's got to take it home but it can't move with us. :)

This one got out of order but it was our stop along the Mississippi

Wednesday, October 3, 2012

A couple Saturdays ago Easton went to a birthday party. They had yummy cake and then they had built a race track in their garden and then had a little pool for them to swim in as well. Well Easton really just played by himself the whole time and then he discovered the pool. I didn't plan on him getting in the water just getting muddy so I didn't put a swim diaper on him. Well he played in the water a good 30 minutes and the water became a big mud hole with all the kids getting in. He didn't care he loved it! Well all that water gave him some major "junk in the trunk!" I literally watched it get bigger and bigger it was hilarious. That thing weighed I would say about 6 pounds by the time I took it off. It is a little easier to see enlarged, although seeing it in person does it better justice!
He then played with the basketball and hoop for a good 30 min and was so mad when I told him it was time to change and go home. I guess we have to rethink our Christmas/Birthday options for him and get him a little basketball hoop he was in heaven!

Spencer

My little brother Spencer made it to the mission field last week after 8 weeks in the MTC learning Spanish. I personally am so proud of him and his wonderful example! He is already doing great things! One of his first contacts was an airline worker in Atlanta as he was boarding his plane asked him if he had one of those books and so he was able to give her a Book of Mormon and bear a short testimony to her! I am excited to hear all about what he is doing and who he is teaching! We love you Spence and Easton sure misses you!

Story Time

We have been trying to go to Story time again at the Library. Some weeks I just can't get myself to go. It is hard to keep Easton from running and then picking books after isn't fun either because they want to jump on everything and pull all the books off the shelf. It is hard for me to help them stay quiet and to find books with me when other kids are running and acting crazy. I know that Ella loves it so we try to get there for her and some weeks are better than others!

Last week they talked about Apples. They showed the kids the inside of an apple and the star it makes when cut in half. Then after we made took those apples and put paint on them and stamped them on our paper. The kids were excited to get to use markers! I wish I hadn't of put white on Ella but she didn't get any paint or markers on herself!
Easton just wanted to eat the markers! When we left we each got a Red Delicious Apple to take home with us and even one for Daddy!

Setting the Table

Ella has been asking to help me do some things. She always wants to help with dishes and baking something so last week I decided to let her help me set the table. I set the stuff on the counter and she set the table all by herself. It was so cute! I'll take the help before someday when she decides that it isn't cool! It also helps her to leave Easton alone for a few minutes so I can get dinner done. They love to drive each other nuts!

A couple nights later she asked if she could set the table again so I gave her everything and she did it! Lucky for her we only unpacked a few dishes and none of them are breakable so it is easy to let her do it!

And then Easton discovered Ella was doing something without him and came running to "help"
Her new thing is posing for pictures except you she turns so much you can't see her face usually!
